Dear Abba

In memory of my late father, Haji NazirAhmed Daud Satia (Allah illuminate his grave).

The Eyes Tear,
The Heart is in Pain,
But (with my tongue) I will only say that which is pleasing to Allah,
And we are indeed sad at your departure.

20151212_154603[1]Dear Abba,

Today, 27th November 2015 we commemorate two years after you returned to Allah SWT. Two years since you left an empty spot in our hearts. Two years of grief, sorrow, memories and much patience. Two years since a vacuum has not been filled and indefinitely will not be filled. Simply because I believe you were not just a father and a grandfather. You were a unique man, a resilient, robust, righteous man. You were a man that stood up for his people, you stood up for what was right, if the whole world was against you. That’s all I saw for 28 years. There were and are few men in the world like you, but the world needed such great men, and still does.

A man asked the Prophet, when he had put his leg in the stirrup: “Which kind of Jihad is best?'” He said: “a word of truth spoken before an unjust ruler.” (Nisa’i)

People talk about Umar (Radhiy Allaho Anho) – who most certainly was a great man of justice and principles. People talk about Malcolm X (Rahimahullah) who was an advocate of truth and equality. These are my heroes too!

But Abba, I need not look far, when I had a role model in front of my own eyes. You taught us morals, values, justice and principles.

You taught us the true way of life.

You taught us how to defend and stand up for ourselves in the cruel and evil world we live in.

You taught us how money and power changes the best of people, and not to be materialistic. Rather keep a heart; a loving heart, a giving heart, a forgiving heart.

You taught us, rather reminded us how when you and your parents came from India, you had nothing. So be grateful for what we have as it is all from Allah, if you show ingratitude – He will take it away! Likewise, we came with nothing and we will leave this world with nothing.

The most amazing thing you taught us, was conviction in Allah. Something which even the most knowledgeable of people lack in this day and age. Your Yaqeen – that Allah does everything and how Allah’s help comes, was admirable.

Such were the lessons we learnt.

“That is Allah’s grace which He bestows on whom He wills, He is the Owner of Mighty Grace.” (62:4)

Abba, it is said in history books, Khattab the father of Umar (Radhiy Allaho Anho) was known for reconciling between tribes and his own people. Allah SWT made his son a leader, an Imam of justice and Taqwa. When I read this, I remembered you. You spent your entire life reconciling between people. How many marriages did you save, how many brothers and sisters who had stopped talking did you unite, and how many transactions did you witness to be carried out fair and honest. You never feared losing respect and honour, rather you did what was right. A great example of the verse below:

“You honour whom You will and You degrade whom You will. In Your hand is [all] good. Indeed, You are over all things competent.” (3:26)

You always prayed to Allah (and taught us too), to keep you independent. Never reliant upon anyone but Him. Allah granted this desire of yours.

No doubt, you were a respected and honourable man. A community man who was noble and worthy. A selfless and self-sacrificing man. A man who was principled and upright.

Ahumdu Lillah! All praise be to Allah (alone) for all of that.

Abba they say, “How you live is, how you will die.” Well, we certainly saw that in your life Ma Sha Allah! You spent over 20 years as a Chairman of the Sunnat Jamat in India. It was your life, your soul, your everything. And the last thing you did before your demise, you were in a meeting for the Sunnat Jamat, which went on half way through the night. Which inevitably was the cause of your heart attack. It is fair to say, you died fighting for what was right, for justice, for a cause you spent most your life doing.

Abba, you engaged and participated in many noble causes throughout your life, you were a generous and charitable man. You initiated many projects particularly in India, your birth place and it was always at the centre of your heart and mind.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

“Whoever starts a good tradition which is followed, then for him is a reward, and the likes of their rewards of whoever follows him, there being nothing diminished from their rewards. (Tirmidhi)

This was eloquently said in the speech given Mawlana Abul Qasim Saheb (Hafidhahullah), at your funeral. His words were loud and clear,

“Today we are bidding farewell to a good man, rather a good ‘friend’ to us all. He will surely, most definitely be missed. He was a religious, holy and spiritual man. He was devout and sincere. He took his people forward, he brought them together, and he was the epitome of unity. He cared for one and all, he was the height of brotherhood. A man of Da’wah and Tabligh. He was concerned and always asking about our Darul Uloom (Markaz, Dewsbury). His greatest worry was regarding the ‘Watan’ – India. As he felt he owed it to the people left behind, so they can better their lives just as we had done (in the UK). He would visit India every year but would not return until he had accomplished a new project or finished an old one.”

Abba, it was hard on your funeral day. I remember it like it was yesterday. There were scores of people at the Janazah – Fa Lillahil Hamd! It was hard to sprinkle the soil on your face and see you for the last time. People had travelled from all over the country, those who you kept good connections with. Something else you instilled and embedded in our hearts and minds, to keep good ties with people and particularly those who had favours (Ihsan) upon you.

Aishah RA who said: “The Prophet SAW said,

‘If a Muslim dies and his funeral prayer is attended by a group of a hundred Muslims, and they all sincerely pray for his forgiveness, he is forgiven’. (Ahmad, Muslim, and Tirmidhi)

Ibn ‘Abbas RA reported: “I heard the Prophet SAW saying:

‘If a Muslim dies and a group of forty people, who do not associate any one with Allah, pray for him, their prayer is accepted and he is forgiven’.” (Ahmad, Muslim, and Abu Daw’ud)

Abba, there were many signs of your ‘good death’. We all heard you praying and doing Dhikr as you lay in the hospital bed. Friends of mine who came to visit you said they heard you reading the last few Surahs of the Qur’an. Throughout your life you constantly did Dhikr and had a Tasbih in your hand.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said,

“He whose last words are: `La ilaha illallah’ (There is no true god except Allah) will enter Jannah.” Abu Dawood

After your heart attack, your kidneys were failing, you were unable to excrete the last few days. I remember the pain you suffered. But now all the pain is over In Sha Allah.

Abdullah Ibn Yasar RH said,

“I was sitting with Sulaiman bin Sard and Khalid bin ‘Urfutah, and they said that a man had died as a result of abdominal illness. They wanted to attend his funeral, and one of them said to the other: ‘Didn’t the Messenger of Allah say: Whoever is killed by an abdominal illness, he will not be punished in his grave? The other said: ‘Yes.”’ (Nasai)

Abba, some might wonder why I am writing this when you can’t read it? Well, I know you won’t read it today. But one day you will In Sha Allah. Maybe when we are in Jannah – where we meet next In Sha Allah. It’s going to be quite awesome, as we will both be the same age (what a thought being same age as your father?!).

Mu’adh bin Jabal RA narrated that the Prophet (s.a.w) said:

“The people of Paradise shall enter Paradise without body hair, Murd, with Kuhl on their eyes, thirty years of age or thirty-three years.” (Tirmidhi)

Today, I stood at your grave for a long time. Not stayed for that period since a while. It was cold, wet and windy. But I felt your warmth, I felt peaceful, and a soothing, calm atmosphere. Others have said the same about your grave site. We have full hope and faith that you are being showered in the Mercy of Allah SWT and you are lying in a garden of Jannah. I prayed a full Para today – 29th Juz and will finish the 30th tonight In Sha Allah. All that reward will be yours like a blossom of flowers in your grave.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said:

“When a man dies all his good deeds come to an end except three: Ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), beneficial knowledge and a righteous son who prays for him.” (Nasai)

Abba, maybe I wasn’t as you wanted me to be or perhaps I’m not as obedient as I ought to be. But one thing I know, I have prayed for you every day since the last two years and I shall continue to do so. I am sorry for not fulfilling your rights, we all are. Please forgive us.

“They rejoice on account of favour from Allah and (His) grace, and that Allah will not waste the reward of the believers.” (3:171)

Recently, someone saw you in a dream sitting with Hadhrat Mawlana Yusuf Motala Saheb (Hafidhahullah) and Mawlana Fadhle Haqq Wadi Saheb (Hafidhahullah). You were all eating on a Dastarkhan (table cloth). Upon interpreting, it was said this indicates your love for these two Alims and your love for Ulama. How can we forget how you were always at the beck and call of Hafidh Patel Saheb (Hafidhahullah) when he used to come Blackburn and your closeness to Hadhrat Mawana Ismail Wadi Saheb (Rahmatullahi Alayhi). And also, from India – Hadhrat Mawlana Talha Saheb (Hafidhahullah) and last but not least Shaykhul Hadith Hadhrat Mawlana Muhammad Yunus Saheb (Hafidhahullah). The latter to whom you sent me in service to him, and what an honour that was.

And lastly, we cannot forget your incredible love for tea. Here’s your mug!

“By Allah, Allah will never disgrace you. You keep good relations with your kith and kin, help the poor and the destitute, serve your guests generously and assist the deserving calamity-afflicted ones.” (Bukhari)

These were the words said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) by his beloved wife, Khadijah (Allah be pleased with her) after he received the first revelation. I can certainly, without any hesitation say the same words to you In Sha Allah.

Your unworthy son – forever indebted to you.

20151212_154615[1]

O Allah! Grant my dear father Forgiveness. bless him with your Mercy, bestow upon him your Compassion, and make his grave a garden from the gardens of Jannah.

Ameen Ya Rabb.

Ismail Ibn Nazir Satia (One who is in dire need of Allah’s Forgiveness, Mercy and Pleasure).

Did you know?

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,

Did you know that……..question

  • ‘Abdullah Ibn ‘Abbas RA provided answers to the king of Persia, Khosrau when he posed the following complex queries by way of  letter which he had sent to Mu’awiyah RA:
  1. What are the most beloved phrases to Allah?
  2. What are the 4 living bodies which were not formed in the womb of a mother?
  3. Who is that person who has entered paradise, yet prophet Mohammed SAW was forbidden from following him in his actions?
  4. Who was that messenger sent by Allah which was neither human, angel or Jinn?
  5. What is that thing that will speak on the Day of Jugement which is neither made of flesh nor blood?
  6. What is that thing that that breaths yet it is not of  blood and flesh?
  7. What is that living thing that came back to life when it was struck with an organ of another living thing?
  8. What was that object that strode and swallowed which was neither made of flesh nor blood?
  9. What is that thing which can be forbidden (haram) even if you carry out its performance or even if you don’t carry out its performance?
  10. What is that place which does not have a Qiblah?
  11. Which gravesite journeyed with its occupant?
  12. What is meant by “Majrah” and “Qaws Quzah”? ( تاريخ دمشق لابن عساكر Vol 12 pg. 315-319)
  • The most beloved phrases in the court of Allah are:
  •  لا إله إلا الله ،  سبحان الله ،  الحمد ،  الله أكبر ، لا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله.
  • The 4 living bodies which were not formed in the womb of a mother were:
  1. Adam AS
  2. Hawa RA
  3. The camel of  Prophet Saleh AS which was created from the rock of a mountain
  4. The ram of  Prophet Ibrahim AS which was sent as a ransom from heaven for Prophet Ismail AS.
  • There is a person who has entered paradise however prophet Mohammed SAW was forbidden from following him in his actions. It was prophet Yunus AS. Allah says:
  • “And be not like the Man of the Fish, he cried out while he was in anguish.” وَلا تَكُنْ كَصَاحِبِ الْحُوتِ إِذْ نَادَى وَهُوَ مَكْظُومٌ
  • The grave site of Prophet Yunus Ibn Mattaa AS while he was in the stomach of the fish was the only grave that journeyed with its occupant.
  • “Majrah” is the door of the skies and “Qaws Quzah” is that portion of earth which did not get submerged underwater in the time of Pophet Nuh AS. The inhabitatns of that region did not drown also.
  • The only messenger that Allah sent which was neither a human, angel nor Jinn was the crow that scratched the earth to show the son of Adam AS how he should conceal the corpse of his dead brother.
  • The only thing that will speak on the Day of Jugement which is neither made of flesh nor blood is Jahannam (Hell). Allah says: (Remind them of) the Day when We will say to Jahannam (Hell), “Are you filled up?” and it will say, “Are there some more?”
  • The only thing that breaths yet it is not of  blood and flesh is the morning as Allah says in the Qur’an: “and the morning when it starts breathing”
  • The only living thing that came back to life when it was striked with an organ of another living thing (the cow) was the man who was murdered in the time of Musa AS. As Allah states in the Qur’an: “And when you killed a man, and started putting the blame for it on one another, while Allah was to bring forth what you were holding back.  So, We said, “Strike him with a part of it.” This is how Allah revives the dead; and He shows you His signs, so that you may understand.”
  • The only thing that walked and swallowed which was neither made of flesh nor blood was the staff of Musa AS. As Allah states: We revealed to Mūsā, “Throw your staff.” Then of a sudden, it began to swallow all that they had concocted. [7:117]
  • The only thing which can be forbidden (haram) even if you carry out its performance or don’t carry out its performance is prayer (Salah). If you do not offer salah this is forbidden. And if you perform prayer (Salah) while intoxicated, this is also forbidden.
  • The only place that does not have a Qiblah is the Ka’bah itself. ( تاريخ دمشق لابن عساكر Vol 12 pg. 315-319)

The War on Error

War on Error
What if I told you there were soldiers outside who despised who you and I,
Ready to take us dead or alive, with guns pointed at your pride,
And you had the option to just lie and denounce what you hold inside,
Would you go run and hide, or would you get ready to die,
See the problem with you and I, is we would say anything to stay alive
Multiplied by the drive that we have to survive
Most would rather compromise, than be chastised
So we don’t even try, but I dare to ask why
Homeland security, is only trying to secure me
In these tiny little rooms, where I could barely breathe
Maybe it’s the way that I’m dressed in the land of the free
No khamis, I should have just wore jeans and a T
And I know it’s hard to believe, but I aint a refugee,
Actually, I was born in a hospital right down the street
So tell me what’s the beef; is it the beard or attire?
Or is it my last name; you could just call me Michael
Are you comfortable, am I moderate enough for your liking
I don’t wanna any trouble, I’ll be good, man I promise
I’m honest, only liars need to preach to a choir
Holding onto this deen is like holding onto fire,
But I still smile, aint sure if this is still worth your while
You say you wanna believe than you will be put on trial
Tested, but blessed are those who remain steadfast and pray
Because what are we but slaves, just looking for a raise
Anyways, everyday’s another chance at being saved
Cause even a broken clock is right two times a day
But I’d be lying if I didn’t say,
We look like lions without manes
Trying to impress these creatures who just came from mud and clay
Why don’t you beautify your grave, Iqra, proclaim
Who will testify for you when your Lord calls your name?
Work for your spot in the shade on the day when their will only be his shade
The things you love today, they will all fade away
Remember the story of the cave, even though they were afraid
The youth knew the truth so they still remained brave
The same goes today, cause even rain goes away
And after the clouds the sun comes out to play
So expect brighter days, and declare all praise
To the one with no son, in need of no aid
Isn’t it strange how the strangers are starting to feel strange?
I guess sometimes Guantanamo bay is just the price you gotta pay,
Allah does not place a burden on a soul more than it can handle
And the bruises from sujood will light your way just like a candle
And we follow the example of the best of examples
I don’t stand for flags and or bow to your bourgeois
I pledge allegiance to La elhalla il allah
Say it now, Say it loud, be proud of your Muslim names
Uthman, Umar, Ali, Khadija, Aisha, Summayah
If only you knew the sacrifice these people made
So tell airport security, I’m sorry if we all look the same
But there’s a reason why Muhammed is the world’s most popular name
And you can call us funny names, and draw cartoons in his name
But there will come a day when your Lord will decide who goes and who stays
So go ahead and tease, after hardship comes ease,
And gardens with rivers that flow underneath
This poem is for every hijabie who got made fun of in school
Or the brothers too scared to rock a beard, cause facial hair isn’t cool
If Allah didn’t love you, then he wouldn’t test you
So prepare for victory, coming to a soul near you

Heroes

My heroes never wore tights or appeared on carton channels
They had long beards and kept clothes above the ankles
No combing the streets, like beasts at night looking for thieves
My heroes fought their egos, and narrated ahadith
And some of my heroes were once bag guys too
Baby killers and highway robbers, if you only knew what they knew
Cause you gotta know a lie in order to recognize the truth
And what the point of knowing truth if you can’t back it up with proof
And to prove my heroes were united by a single point of view
Why else would they choose to go against what their fathers used to do?
Unless they knew, that paradise was worth being abused
The best of views, if only you could walk a mile in their shoes,
Oh what I wouldn’t do to kick it with Abduallah Ibn Musuud,
Listen to him recite the Quran, sad to go into ruku
Yeah that would be cool, but me and Hamza, we would kick it old school
Joke about the Jahilliya, silly things they used to do
If I could pick my own crew, Salman Al Farsi would have to be in it,
An honest seeker of truth, may Allah bless his spirit,
Have Tea with Julilibib, Coffee with Anas Ibn Malik
Anything to pick their brains and gain a better understanding
Could you imagine taking a class with Abduallah Ibn Abbas
A scholar by the age of 10, just a boy amongst the men
And if I had one friend, it would be Abu Baker as Saddique,
Someone to hold you down and to really represent,
When Sumayya held her chin to her killers, did she think?
We would name our little girls after her to teach them strength
And who cares about these rappers, we got Hassan Ibn Thabit,
Dude was sick with the flow, can’t believe you didn’t know,
That Zaid was a slave who became one of praise
Lived the American dream, when America was Cree
Umar Bin Khattab was G, held it down for this deen
A real superman, made the devils cross the street
And if I ever had beef, I would call up Khalid Bin Walid
He was a ride or die homie, amongst the Salaf as Saliheen,
And if I close my eyes, man, I could almost see
Bilal amongst the cold morning breeze, Allahu Akbar
Cause surely salah is much better than sleep
Like Abu Sufyan after he embraced the deen
On this earth Talha, was a walking shaheed
And Jafar gave his life for our Ummahs victory
May Allah be pleased and grant them all the highest levels of heaven
Like Uthman ibn Affan, who even the angles were shy in front of
Aisha was a genius, ever word was like a thesis
Mother to all believers, pure like that of Isa’s
Khadija held the fetus of Fatima, who was the teacher
Of Hassan and Hussein, sons of Ali who were slain
Man you gotta know these names, cause these people paved the way
It’s a shame, we know more about them monkeys on BET
This is our history, all the sacrifices that they made for me
Gave to me, a legacy that I could be proud to keep
Said: Be! It was decreed, that at Badr we were only 300 deep
But with the angels on our side, who could even compete?
Although he was a man of peace who preached speech before the sword
He raged a war against error, the worship of fake Lords
Came to restore the deen that Ibrahim laid before
Extreme in his need to feed miskeen and the poor
Yeah, he was hardcore with his face to the floor
Off praying so long that his feet became sore
Uhhhh, yeah he got down like that
And told all the rich they should pay the zakat
And make the salah, and spread the salaam
And declare Ashdu-la-ilah, Ha-il-allah,
Muhammed a rasooul Allah, Sallau alahe wsalaam,
Was the difference between Jannah and Jahennim,
Like the mailman just delivering a message
Who else do you know with a swagger that’s blessed?
The best and perfected, corrected the method
Madina state of mind, coming from the hood of Mecca
Champion companions, homeboys were go-getters
Did it bigger and better, had followers before twitter
The leader of leaders, amir to believers
Enjoined all the good and forbade all the evil
My hero taught people that we were all equal
The best of examples outlined what is legal
Forever I’m grateful for all that he came for
May blessings and peace always reach to my mentor
My teacher, my brother, my hero, my prophet
Muhammed, Sallau alahe wsalaam
And that’s how it goes, so tell everyone you know
That this party don’t stop till the son of Mary come home
I am pleased with my Lord and Islam as my deen,
May we die on these words, Allahuma, ameen

5 WAYS TO INCREASE YOUR RIZQ

1. Make Continuous  Istighfaar:

“And said: ‘Ask forgiveness from your Lord, verily, He is Oft-Forgiving; ‘He will send rain to you in abundance, increase you in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers.”

~ [71:10-12]

2. Fear Allah ﺳﺒﺤﺎﻧﻪ ﻭﺗﻌﺎﻟﻰ. Have Taqwa:

“Whosoever fears Allah ‘keeps his duty to Him’, He will make a way for him to get out from every difficulty. And He will provide for him from (sources) he could never imagine.”
~ [65:2-3]

3. Depend on Allah:

Umar RA said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah, ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ, say, ‘If you were to rely on Allah as He should be relied on, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds. They go out early in the morning hungry and return in the evening full’.” –
~ [Narrated by At-Tirmidhi and he said, “Hadith Hassan”]

4. Visit Your Kinship:

Imam Bukhari and Muslim said the Prophet ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ said as reported by Anas ﺭﺿﻲ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻨﻪ
“He who desires that he be granted more wealth/ provisions, and his life be prolonged should maintain good ties with his kinship.”
In the book of Imam Ahmad and At-Tirmidhi and At-Tabarani the Prophet ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ said, “Maintaining good ties with kinship brings love between relatives, and increases wealth, and prolongs life.”

5. Giving charity:

“Whatsoever you spend of anything for Allah, He will replace it. He is the best of those who grant Sustenance.”
~ [34:39]

Imam Bukhari and Muslim said, Abu Hurayrah RA reported that the Messenger of Allah, ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ, said, “Allah Almighty says, ‘Son of Adam, spend and you will be spent on’.”

In At-Tabarani, The Prophet ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ visited Bilal RA when he was ill. Bilal ﺭﺿﻲ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻨﻪ pulled out some dates. The Prophet said, ‘what is that Bilal?’

He said, ‘dates, I saved for you’.

The Prophet ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ said, ‘Oh Bilal, spend it and do not fear it becoming less’.

In At-Tirmidhi, The Prophet ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ said, “I can take an oath on 3 things: [one of them] Sadaqah (charity) does not reduce one’s wealth.”

Women Visiting the Cemetery

Assalamu Alaykum

Question: Are women allowed to go to the cemetery?

Bismillah

Al-Jawab Wa Billahi at-Tawfeeq (the answer with Allah’s guidance)

The opinion of some jurists is that it is not permissible (at all) for women to visit the cemetery, since the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) has cursed those women who visit the cemetery. As for the narration:

Prophet (SAW) said, ‘I used to prohibit you from visiting the graveyard, but now you can visit it. (Musnad ahmad).

These scholars state that the address is given only to men, not women.

Another opinion of some jurists (which is generally accepted and practised upon) is that, if by visiting the cemetery, women begin to cry, weep, wail and become uncontrollable, then it is Haram for them to go to the cemetery, and it is on account of this behaviour, the Prophet (SAW) cursed such women as mentioned in the above tradition. However, if the purpose of going to the cemetery is to take a lesson, and remember death and the hereafter, (and there is no possibility of crying and wailing), then it will be allowed for the older (50+) women, wearing their proper garb, to visit the cemetery, and not the young women.

As mentioned by these scholars, the allowance for these women to visit the cemetery is based on the narration which states that Aisha (RA) used to visit the graves of the Prophet(SA), Abu Bakr and Umar (RA). (Hashiya Jamiul Masaaneed wa As Sunan). (Kitabul Fatawa vol.3 pg.228; Marghoobul Fatawa vol.3pg.317,317).

However, due to the fact that women are soft by nature, if they go to the graveyard at a time that is close to the burial, then it is feared that they may cry loudly, and may become emotional, since the death of the person may still be fresh in their minds. Hence, it is best for them to allow a few days to past, when they have settled down.

See also:

1) All scholars have no dispute about the point that it is prohibited for Muslim females (including pregnant women) to frequently visit the cemetery. This is due to the authentic Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) who said : ” May Allah curse the women who are frequently visiting the cemetery ” (Authentic, Tirmidhi).

* If an old female (50+) visits the grave to remember death and soften without crying there is no harm. However, It is Makrooh for young women to do so.

(Shaami vol. 1 p. 665 – Maajidiyya)

Imam Bukhari has recorded a Hadith of Sayyidatuna Umm Atiyya (Radhiallaahu Anha) that she said, ‘We were prohibited from following the Janazah, i.e. until the graveyard.’ (Bukhari Hadith No.1278; See Fathul Baari vol.3 pg.187)

Imam Tirmidhi (RA) has recorded a Hadith of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayra (Radhi’allahu Anhu) that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) has mentioned,

‘May Allah Ta’ala curse women who visits the graves.’ Imam Tirmidhi has graded this Hadith as Sahih – authentic (Sunan Tirmidhi vol.1 pg.203)

“Allàh curses the women who visit the graves” (la‘ana Allàhu zà’iràt al-qubur)

Narrated from Abu Hurayra by Ibn Hibbàn in his Sahïh (7:452 #3178)

“Allàh curses the women who visit the graves and take them for places of worship and candles,”

Narrated from Ibn ‘Abbàs by al-Tirmidhï ( hasan), Abu Dàwud, al-Nasà’ï in both in al-Sunan and al-Sunan al-Kubrà (1:657 #2174), Ahmad

“Allàh curses the women who frequently visit the graves”

(la‘ana Allàhu zawwàràt al-qubur).

Narrated from Abu Hurayra by al-Tirmidhï ( hasan sahïh ), Ibn Màjah, and Ahmad.

The author and jurist Abu Is-haq Ash-Shirāzī stated,

“It is not permitted for women to visit the graves due to what is reported from Abu Hurayrah (radhiya Allahu ‘Anhu) from the Prophet (sallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) that he stated, “The curse of Allah is upon women who visit the graves.” Tirmidhi

Allah knows best.

Approved by Mufti Ibrahim Raja Saheb (Hafidhahullah).

Ten Rules for a Happy Life.

Notes taken from a course:
 IMG-20120611-WA001
1. Sins – Will destroy happiness
2. Envy – Asking why me all the time, jealousy, forgets his blessings, those who have Hasad hurt themselves and will burn your good deeds.
3. Greed – Never satisfied, always wanting more.
4. Never get satisfied – Boring life avoids to unhappiness. Children with less toys are more happy than children with hundred of toys.

5. Be Innovative – Introduce change in your life.
6. Victim Mentality – Why people are always against him/her.
7. Excessive Fear – Being scared of father/husband. Afraid to discover new, to start anything new. Musa AS live in a society of fear, when he became Prophet, there was no fear then. Fear  is associated with worry. Look forward, don’t look at your past.
8. Optimism – Makes you happy. Doughnut example – Take  a pessimist to a doughnut shop and he will ask why there is a hole in the doughnut rather than choosing which one to eat. The Prophet SAW loved optimism. Seeing Allah as positive, thinking good of Allah.
9. Didn’t accomplish things in life, they never feel happy. Set clear goals. Obey the commands of Allah. Focus on your goals, no goals in life is boring. Set goals to achieve.
10. Arrogance – Major sin in Islam; reject the truth, belittle people, racism etc.

Yusuf Issat
17 Muharram 1436
Be around people who are happy.
Staring and not smiling, when going to mosque.
Have a YES face.
After Allah, only you yourself can make yourself happy.

Television

Roald Dahl’s poem ‘Television’ – written in 1964 when there were only three black and white channels which stopped broadcasting in the night time.Copy-of-Poems-1-1

Even more relevant these days:

The most important thing we’ve learned,
So far as children are concerned,
Is never, NEVER, NEVER let
Them near your television set —
Or better still, just don’t install
The idiotic thing at all.
In almost every house we’ve been,
We’ve watched them gaping at the screen.
They loll and slop and lounge about,
And stare until their eyes pop out.
(Last week in someone’s place we saw
A dozen eyeballs on the floor.)
They sit and stare and stare and sit
Until they’re hypnotised by it,
Until they’re absolutely drunk
With all that shocking ghastly junk.
Oh yes, we know it keeps them still,
They don’t climb out the window sill,
They never fight or kick or punch,
They leave you free to cook the lunch
And wash the dishes in the sink —
But did you ever stop to think,
To wonder just exactly what
This does to your beloved tot?
IT ROTS THE SENSE IN THE HEAD!
IT KILLS IMAGINATION DEAD!
IT CLOGS AND CLUTTERS UP THE MIND!
IT MAKES A CHILD SO DULL AND BLIND
HE CAN NO LONGER UNDERSTAND
A FANTASY, A FAIRYLAND!
HIS BRAIN BECOMES AS SOFT AS CHEESE!
HIS POWERS OF THINKING RUST AND FREEZE!
HE CANNOT THINK — HE ONLY SEES!
‘All right!’ you’ll cry. ‘All right!’ you’ll say,
‘But if we take the set away,
What shall we do to entertain
Our darling children? Please explain!’
We’ll answer this by asking you,
‘What used the darling ones to do?
‘How used they keep themselves contented
Before this monster was invented?’
Have you forgotten? Don’t you know?
We’ll say it very loud and slow:
THEY … USED … TO … READ! They’d READ and READ,
AND READ and READ, and then proceed
To READ some more. Great Scott! Gadzooks!
One half their lives was reading books!
The nursery shelves held books galore!
Books cluttered up the nursery floor!
And in the bedroom, by the bed,
More books were waiting to be read!
Such wondrous, fine, fantastic tales
Of dragons, gypsies, queens, and whales
And treasure isles, and distant shores
Where smugglers rowed with muffled oars,
And pirates wearing purple pants,
And sailing ships and elephants,
And cannibals crouching ’round the pot,
Stirring away at something hot.
(It smells so good, what can it be?
Good gracious, it’s Penelope.)
The younger ones had Beatrix Potter
With Mr. Tod, the dirty rotter,
And Squirrel Nutkin, Pigling Bland,
And Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle and-
Just How The Camel Got His Hump,
And How the Monkey Lost His Rump,
And Mr. Toad, and bless my soul,
There’s Mr. Rat and Mr. Mole-
Oh, books, what books they used to know,
Those children living long ago!
So please, oh please, we beg, we pray,
Go throw your TV set away,
And in its place you can install
A lovely bookshelf on the wall.
Then fill the shelves with lots of books,
Ignoring all the dirty looks,
The screams and yells, the bites and kicks,
And children hitting you with sticks-
Fear not, because we promise you
That, in about a week or two
Of having nothing else to do,
They’ll now begin to feel the need
Of having something to read.
And once they start — oh boy, oh boy!
You watch the slowly growing joy
That fills their hearts. They’ll grow so keen
They’ll wonder what they’d ever seen
In that ridiculous machine,
That nauseating, foul, unclean,
Repulsive television screen!
And later, each and every kid
Will love you more for what you did.
